To evenly infuse your mashed potatoes with the garlic flavor, season them with a spiced milk broth. To do this, simmer chopped garlic and bay leaves in milk and stir this liquid into the mashed potatoes along with butter. This will give the potatoes a creamy texture and flavor, adding a rich, mouth-watering aroma.

Recipe:

Boil 1.3 kg (3 lb) peeled and cut potatoes with 3 bay leaves in salted water until tender, 15-18 minutes. Set aside 0.5 cups (1/2 cup) of the cooking liquid and drain the remaining water from the potatoes; discard the bay leaf. Return the potatoes to the pan and mash. Meanwhile, bring 1.5 cups (2 1/2 cups) of milk to a boil in a saucepan with 5 chopped garlic cloves and 3 bay leaves; cook for 15 minutes. Remove from heat. Add 190 g (6 oz) of chopped butter to the potatoes and pour in the milk mixture (discard the bay leaf); stir, thinning with the reserved cooking liquid if necessary. Season with salt and pepper.
