Add grated cheddar and dill to mashed potatoes for a great side dish for a holiday dinner. The cheese will make the mashed potatoes creamier and more chewy, while the dill, with its refreshingly spicy flavor, is the perfect companion. Serve the mashed potatoes hot to fully appreciate their texture.

The recipes use measuring containers with the following volumes:
1 glass (st.) - 250 ml.
3/4 cup (st.) - 180 ml.
2/3 cup (st.) - 160 ml.

1/3 cup (st.) - 80 ml.
1/4 cup (st.) - 60 ml.
1 tablespoon (tbsp) - 15 ml.
1 teaspoon (tsp) - 5 ml.
1/5 teaspoon (tsp) - 1 ml.

Ingredients for the recipe:

  • 1 kg of potatoes
  • 1 cup whole milk

Cooking the dish according to the recipe:

  1. Place the potatoes in a medium saucepan, cover with cold water, and add 2 tablespoons of salt. Bring to a gentle simmer and cook, uncovered, until tender, about 45 minutes. Drain.
  2. Peel the potatoes and return them to the pan (for smoother mashed potatoes, press them through a potato masher or vegetable grinder after peeling). Using a fork or potato masher, mash the potatoes with the milk and butter. Add the cheddar, dill, 2 tablespoons of salt, and a pinch of freshly ground black pepper.
