Mashed potatoes with cheese - a detailed recipe.



The recipes use measuring containers with the following volumes:
1 glass (st.) - 250 ml.
3/4 cup (st.) - 180 ml.
2/3 cup (st.) - 160 ml.
1/2 cup (st.) - 125 ml.
1/3 cup (st.) - 80 ml.
1/4 cup (st.) - 60 ml.
1 tablespoon (tbsp) - 15 ml.
1 teaspoon (tsp) - 5 ml.
1/5 teaspoon (tsp) - 1 ml.

Ingredients for the recipe:


  • 1.2 kg white or yellow skinned potatoes, peeled and quartered
  • 1 tbsp. grated Gouda cheese, smoked or plain
  • 120 g butter
  • 3/4 cup (10% fat) light cream
  • 1/4 cup sliced ​​into rings chives
  • Salt and freshly ground pepper

Cooking the dish according to the recipe:


  1. Place the potatoes in a saucepan, cover with cold water, and season with salt. Bring to a boil, reduce heat, and simmer until tender, 15-20 minutes.
  2. Meanwhile, melt the butter in the hot cream.

  3. Once the potatoes are cooked, drain the water and return the pan to the stovetop. Dry them for 1 minute. Mash the potatoes until smooth and stir in the hot cream and butter. Add the cheese and chives to the mashed potatoes and stir until the cheese melts. Season with salt and pepper to taste. Serve the mashed potatoes hot.
