Want your mashed potatoes to be a memorable holiday side dish? Try adding fresh dill and spicy horseradish. For a fluffier, velvety mash, press the potatoes through a potato masher before adding the remaining ingredients.



The recipes use measuring containers with the following volumes:
1 glass (st.) - 250 ml.
3/4 cup (st.) - 180 ml.
2/3 cup (st.) - 160 ml.
1/2 cup (st.) - 125 ml.
1/3 cup (st.) - 80 ml.
1/4 cup (st.) - 60 ml.
1 tablespoon (tbsp) - 15 ml.
1 teaspoon (tsp) - 5 ml.
1/5 teaspoon (tsp) - 1 ml.

Ingredients for the recipe:


  • 1 kg of unpeeled potatoes
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 110 g unsalted butter
  • 1/4 cup chopped fresh dill + fresh dill sprigs for serving
  • 2 tbsp. prepared horseradish

Cooking the dish according to the recipe:


  1. Place the potatoes in a medium saucepan, cover with cold water, and add 2 tablespoons of salt. Bring to a boil and simmer, uncovered, until tender, about 45 minutes. Drain.
  2. Peel the potatoes and return them to the pan (optional, press them through a potato masher after peeling). Mash the potatoes with the milk and butter using a fork or potato masher. Add the dill, horseradish, and 2 teaspoons of salt; season with pepper to taste. Garnish with dill sprigs.
