Make a special mashed potato to go with your holiday meat by adding sweet potatoes. They'll add a slightly sweeter flavor, and the smoky chipotle peppers in the adobo sauce will balance the sweetness with their savory flavor. For a fluffy, smooth mash, press the potatoes through a potato masher.

The recipes use measuring containers with the following volumes:
1 glass (st.) - 250 ml.
3/4 cup (st.) - 180 ml.
2/3 cup (st.) - 160 ml.
1/2 cup (st.) - 125 ml.
1/3 cup (st.) - 80 ml.
1/4 cup (st.) - 60 ml.
1 tablespoon (tbsp) - 15 ml.
1 teaspoon (tsp) - 5 ml.
1/5 teaspoon (tsp) - 1 ml.

Ingredients for the recipe:

Sweet potato

  • 2 large sweet potatoes, peeled and diced
  • Olive oil to drizzle

Mashed potatoes

  • 900 g potatoes, do not peel
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 110 g unsalted butter
  • 1-2 tablespoons chopped chipotle peppers in adobo sauce

We recommend

Cooking the dish according to the recipe:

  1. Sweet potato:

Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Toss the sweet potatoes on a baking sheet with olive oil, season with salt and pepper. Bake until tender, about 45 minutes.
  2. Mashed potatoes:

Place the potatoes in a medium saucepan, cover with cold water, and add 2 tablespoons of salt. Bring to a boil and simmer, uncovered, until tender, about 45 minutes. Drain.

  3. Peel the potatoes, return them to the pan (optional, pass them through a potato masher or vegetable grinder after peeling) and add the sweet potatoes. Using a fork or potato masher, mash the potatoes and sweet potatoes with the milk and butter. Add the chopped chipotle peppers, 2 teaspoons of salt, and freshly ground black pepper to taste.
