Cooking the dish according to the recipe:
- Broccoli:
Bring a medium saucepan of salted water to a boil. Add the broccoli and cook until tender, about 10 minutes. Drain thoroughly. - Mashed potatoes:
Place the potatoes in a medium saucepan, cover with cold water, and add 2 tablespoons of salt. Bring to a boil and simmer, uncovered, until tender, about 45 minutes. Drain. - Peel the potatoes and return them to the pan (optional, press them through a potato masher or vegetable grinder). Add the broccoli. Using a fork or potato masher, mash the potatoes with the broccoli, milk, and butter. Add the chopped chipotle peppers, 2 teaspoons of salt, and season with pepper to taste.
