When making mashed potatoes, choose potatoes with a high starch content, which will make the side dish fluffier. Boil the potatoes in their skins, then peel and mash them with cream or milk to ensure a creamy, not watery, mash.

The recipes use measuring containers with the following volumes:
1 glass (st.) - 250 ml.
3/4 cup (st.) - 180 ml.
2/3 cup (st.) - 160 ml.
1/2 cup (st.) - 125 ml.
1/3 cup (st.) - 80 ml.
1/4 cup (st.) - 60 ml.
1 tablespoon (tbsp) - 15 ml.
1 teaspoon (tsp) - 5 ml.
1/5 teaspoon (tsp) - 1 ml.

Ingredients for the recipe:

  • 900 g medium potatoes, thoroughly washed (3-4 tubers)
  • 80 g unsalted butter, room temperature, cut into pieces
  • 1 cup warm cream 10%

Cooking the dish according to the recipe:

  1. Place the potatoes in a large saucepan, add enough cold water to just cover, and season generously with salt. Bring to a boil over medium heat and simmer, uncovered, until the potatoes are tender, 45-55 minutes.
  2. Drain the potatoes, peel them with an oven mitt or kitchen towel, and transfer them to a large bowl. Add the butter, warm cream, 1.5 teaspoons of salt, and a few turns of the black peppercorns. Mash with a potato masher.
