When making mashed potatoes, don't skimp on butter! The most delicious mashed potatoes have a wonderful creamy flavor and a creamy texture. And to preserve the flavor of the potatoes themselves, boil them in their skins and only then peel and mash.



The recipes use measuring containers with the following volumes:
1 glass (st.) - 250 ml.
3/4 cup (st.) - 180 ml.
2/3 cup (st.) - 160 ml.
1/2 cup (st.) - 125 ml.
1/3 cup (st.) - 80 ml.
1/4 cup (st.) - 60 ml.
1 tablespoon (tbsp) - 15 ml.
1 teaspoon (tsp) - 5 ml.
1/5 teaspoon (tsp) - 1 ml.

Ingredients for the recipe:


  • 1 kg of washed potatoes
  • 110 g butter at room temperature, cut into pieces
  • 1 cup of milk, warmed

Cooking the dish according to the recipe:


  1. Place the potatoes in a large saucepan, add enough cold water to just cover, and season generously with salt. Bring to a boil over medium heat and simmer, uncovered, until the potatoes are tender and a thin knife easily passes through the center, 45-55 minutes.
  2. Drain the potatoes, cool slightly, and then peel. Return the potatoes to the pan with the butter, warm milk, 1.5 teaspoons of salt, and a pinch of freshly ground black pepper. Reduce the heat to low and mash the potatoes with a potato masher until the milk and butter are completely incorporated.
