Giada De Laurentiis's delicate waffles feature a classic breakfast ingredient: bacon, which adds a unique flavor. The salty flavor provides a wonderful contrast to the sweetness, with the addition of cinnamon and chopped walnuts.

Cooking the dish according to the recipe:
- Preheat oven to 180°C. Spread the nuts evenly on a baking sheet. Bake for 10-12 minutes, until toasted. Set aside to cool.
- Preheat and lightly grease a waffle iron.
- Heat oil in a medium skillet over medium-high heat. Add the bacon and cook until crisp and browned, 3 to 5 minutes. Transfer the cooked bacon to a paper towel-lined baking sheet to cool.
- In a large bowl, combine the waffle batter, eggs, vegetable oil, cinnamon, salt, and water. Using a whisk, mix the ingredients until smooth. Stir in the bacon. Pour the mixture into a waffle iron; refer to your waffle iron's instructions for the amount of batter needed for one waffle. Cook the waffles for 3 to 4 minutes, or until golden brown.
- Place the waffles in serving bowls. Sprinkle with nuts and drizzle with a little maple syrup. Serve immediately.
