Enjoy the combination of aromatic blackberries and fragrant basil in this sweet jam with a light citrusy hint of orange. This jam is easy to make, but without preserving it, it only lasts for three days, so make it in small batches. It's perfect with toast, pancakes, porridge, cheese platters, and even roast lamb.

The recipes use measuring containers with the following volumes:
1 glass (st.) - 250 ml.
3/4 cup (st.) - 180 ml.
2/3 cup (st.) - 160 ml.
1/2 cup (st.) - 125 ml.
1/3 cup (st.) - 80 ml.
1/4 cup (st.) - 60 ml.
1 tablespoon (tbsp) - 15 ml.
1 teaspoon (tsp) - 5 ml.
1/5 teaspoon (tsp) - 1 ml.

Ingredients for the recipe:

  • 450 g frozen blackberries, thawed, do not pour out the juice
  • 4 cups fresh basil leaves (100 g)
  • 2/3 cup sugar
  • 1/4 cup freshly squeezed orange juice (1 large orange)
  • 3 tbsp freshly squeezed lemon juice (1 medium lemon)

Cooking the dish according to the recipe:

  1. Place the blackberries and their juice in a medium saucepan and mash lightly with a fork.
  2. In a food processor, combine basil, sugar, orange and lemon juice. Blend until smooth.

  3. Add the mixture to the blackberries and bring to a boil over medium heat. Simmer until the jam thickens, stirring occasionally, for 25-30 minutes.
  4. Remove the pan from the heat and let the jam cool for 1 hour (it will continue to thicken as it cools). Transfer to a jar, seal tightly, and refrigerate. Store for up to 3 days.
