These delicious burgers with a juicy ground turkey patty are topped with cheese, avocado, tortilla chips, and Tex-Mex-inspired lettuce. The ground turkey is infused with garlic and spicy smoked paprika, imbuing the patties with a delicious smoky flavor. They're then pan-fried and served on split buns topped with a creamy mayonnaise sauce, whipped with avocado and lime juice. Pepperjack cheese adds a piquant kick, and the crispy tortilla chips provide a delightful contrast against the soft avocado slices.

Cooking the dish according to the recipe:

  1. In a bowl, combine ground turkey, garlic, paprika, 3/4 teaspoon salt, and a pinch of black pepper; mix with your hands to distribute the ingredients evenly without compacting the mixture too much. Form into 4 1/2-inch-thick patties.
  2. In a medium bowl, combine half an avocado, mayonnaise, lime juice, and 1/4 teaspoon salt; mash until smooth. Thinly slice the other avocado half and sprinkle with salt and black pepper. Set aside for topping.

  3. Heat vegetable oil in a large nonstick skillet over medium-high heat (or preheat a grill to medium-high and oil the grates). Add the patties and cook until golden brown, 3-4 minutes per side. Top each patty with a slice of cheese, cover, and cook until the cheese melts, about 30 seconds.
  4. Meanwhile, slice the buns in half horizontally and toast them; spread the cut sides with avocado mayonnaise. Serve the patties on the buns with lettuce, sliced avocado, and tortilla chips.
