How to Make Meatballs in Tomato Sauce
Go back Print version

Time: 1 hour 30 min.
Complexity: easily
Quantity: 3 meatballs

If you don't have time to roll minced meat into small meatballs, make three large meatballs! They look very impressive when served, and these meatballs are even juicier. They're made with ground turkey and ground raw sausage, without casings. Mix the meat with spices, bread soaked in milk, and chopped onion for juiciness, and form into large meatballs. The meatballs are first fried in a saucepan until golden brown, then simmered in tomato marinara sauce until done. Serve them with the sauce on a serving platter with pasta. Everyone will break off a piece of meat. Three large meatballs will serve about 10 people.

The recipes use measuring containers with the following volumes:
1 glass (st.) - 250 ml.

1/3 cup (st.) - 80 ml.
1/4 cup (st.) - 60 ml.

1 teaspoon (tsp) - 5 ml.
1/5 teaspoon (tsp) - 1 ml.

Cooking the dish according to the recipe:

  1. Soak Texas toast in milk in a shallow bowl for 10 minutes.
  2. In another bowl, add the ground turkey and sausage, Parmesan, parsley, garlic, onion, and some salt and black pepper. Add the soaked bread and milk. Mix everything together (the bread will fall apart) and form into 3 large balls.

  3. Heat a little olive oil in a small saucepan over medium heat. Add the meatballs and fry thoroughly on all sides, moving them around to maintain their shape. The meatballs should fit snugly in the pan.
  4. Pour in the marinara sauce and add water to cover the meatballs if needed. Bring to a boil, cover, and simmer, turning the meatballs carefully halfway through, until cooked through, about 1 hour.

For servingPlace the bucatini pasta on a plate and top with the sauce and meatballs. Sprinkle with parsley and basil.
