Sausage balls are a quick and delicious appetizer that's perfect for a house party, and everyone will be thrilled. The balls are made with raw sausage meat, grated sharp cheddar, spices, and a baking mix. Paula Deen uses a Bisquick mix, which contains flour, baking powder, salt, and shortening. The meat is quite crumbly, so you need to press the balls firmly to form them into the desired shape. The sausage balls are baked in the oven until golden brown. Serve with skewers and a simple mayonnaise-mustard dipping sauce.

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (190°C). Spray a baking sheet with cooking spray.
  2. Combine all ingredients in a large glass bowl. Mix well with your hands. The mixture will be very lumpy and crumbly. Form into 2.5 cm diameter balls by squeezing the mixture until it holds together, then rolling it between your palms to form balls.

  3. Place the balls on a baking sheet. Bake for 18-20 minutes or until golden brown. To prevent sticking, flip the balls with a spatula halfway through baking.
  4. To prepare the sauce, mix mayonnaise with mustard. Serve with sausage balls.
