Onigiri with tuna (Japanese rice balls) - a detailed recipe.


Ingredients:

  • 450 g of sushi-grade tuna, salmon, yellowtail, or sea bass
  • 1.5 cups prepared sushi rice with vinegar
Substituting ingredients
1 glass (st.) - 250 ml.
3/4 cup (st.) - 180 ml.
2/3 cup (st.) - 160 ml.
1/2 cup (st.) - 125 ml.
1/3 cup (st.) - 80 ml.
1/4 cup (st.) - 60 ml.
1 tablespoon (tbsp) - 15 ml.
1 teaspoon (tsp) - 5 ml.
1/5 teaspoon (tsp) - 1 ml.

Preparation:

    Step 1
  • Slice the fish across the grain into 0.3 cm thick medallions, approximately 4 cm in diameter. Place a piece of plastic wrap in the palm of your hand and place the fish on it. Place a heaping tablespoon of sushi rice on top of the fish, gather the ends of the wrap together, and twist to form a ball.

    Keep sushi in a cool place until serving.
