In a large skillet over medium heat, cook 1 chopped shallot in 3 tablespoons olive oil until softened, 4 minutes. Add 3 tablespoons. capers; cook for 1 min.

Add 400g (14 oz) canned cherry tomatoes; cook, stirring, until the skins crack, about 5 minutes. Stir with a spatula, then stir in 340g (12 oz) canned tuna, breaking it into smaller pieces.

Toss with 12 oz (350 g) cooked spaghetti and 3 tbsp (350 g) olive oil, adding reserved pasta cooking water (up to 3/4 cup) if necessary to thin the thick sauce; season with salt and pepper.
