A patty melt sandwich is two slices of rye bread sandwiched between a thick beef patty, topped with sweet and spicy caramelized onions and melty Swiss cheese. It's incredibly juicy, even though no sauce is used during assembly. To enhance the beef's rich, piquant flavor, a few drops of Worcestershire sauce and a touch of black pepper are added to the ground beef. After assembly, the sandwiches are grilled until the cheese melts, then eaten immediately. It's delicious and filling.
