Parmesan cheese, marinara sauce, fragrant basil, and garlic give this homemade meatloaf a wonderful Italian flavor. Its base is ground beef. Combine it with the other meatloaf ingredients, form loaves on a baking sheet or in a bread pan, brush the top with tomato sauce for a sweet and savory crust, and bake until done. To ensure the meatloaf is juicy inside, use an instant-read meat thermometer and bake to the temperature specified in the recipe. Serve with pasta, rice, steamed vegetables, or simply slice and place on bread.

The recipes use measuring containers with the following volumes:
1 glass (st.) - 250 ml.
3/4 cup (st.) - 180 ml.
2/3 cup (st.) - 160 ml.
1/2 cup (st.) - 125 ml.
1/3 cup (st.) - 80 ml.
1/4 cup (st.) - 60 ml.
1 tablespoon (tbsp) - 15 ml.
1 teaspoon (tsp) - 5 ml.
1/5 teaspoon (tsp) - 1 ml.

Ingredients for the recipe:

  • 1.3 kg ground beef
  • 1/4 tbsp. + 2 tbsp. l. olive oil
  • 4 tsp (about 6 cloves) chopped garlic
  • 2 medium onions, diced
  • 2 red bell peppers, seeded and finely diced
  • 0.5 cup chopped basil leaves
  • 2 tbsp chopped parsley leaves
  • 4 eggs
  • 1 teaspoon of salt

Cooking the dish according to the recipe:

  1. Preheat oven to 170°C.
  2. In a medium skillet over medium heat, heat 1/4 cup olive oil and add the garlic. Cook for 1 minute, then add the pepper and onion and cook until soft. Let cool.

  3. In a small bowl, combine the basil, parsley, and eggs, then season with salt and black pepper. In another small bowl, combine the Parmesan and breadcrumbs. In a large bowl, use your hands to combine the ground beef, herbs, eggs, Parmesan, and breadcrumbs, Worcestershire sauce, vinegar, and the remaining 2 tablespoons olive oil. Do not stir for long.
  4. Place the meat mixture in a greased loaf pan. If you don't have a loaf pan, shape the meat mixture into a loaf shape using your hands on a greased baking sheet or in a baking dish. Brush with marinara sauce, spreading it evenly over the entire surface.
  5. Bake for approximately 50-60 minutes, or until a meat thermometer inserted into the center of the meatloaf registers 160°F (71°C). Remove from the oven and let rest for 5 minutes. Slice the meatloaf and serve.
