A simple dish like meatloaf can easily be transformed into an Asian delight by simply adding Asian seasonings and spices to the ground meat, which will give it a distinctive sweet and sour flavor. Sprinkle the finished meatloaf with Japanese furikake seasoning and enjoy it dipped in a brown butter teriyaki sauce.

Ingredients:
- 1 tbsp sesame oil + extra for greasing
- 2 tbsp. panko breadcrumbs
- 1 cup of milk
- 900 g of ground beef
- 4 large eggs
- 0.5 cup soy sauce
- 1/4 cup toasted sesame seeds
- 1 tbsp mirin
- 1 tbsp fish sauce
- 1 tbsp. + 2 tbsp. teriyaki sauce
- 1 cup furikake
- 4 tablespoons unsalted butter

Preparation:
- Step 1
- Preheat oven to 200°C. Grease two 2-quart rectangular baking dishes with sesame oil. Step 2
- Place the breadcrumbs in a small bowl, add the milk, salt, and pepper. In another bowl, combine the ground beef, eggs, soy sauce, sesame seeds, mirin, fish sauce, 1 cup teriyaki sauce, and 1 tablespoon sesame oil. Add the soaked breadcrumbs and mix gently, being careful not to compact the ground beef. Step 3
- Divide the meat mixture between the two prepared baking dishes, spreading it evenly from edge to edge. Bake for 45 minutes. Step 4
- Sprinkle the meatloaf with furikake and set aside to cool slightly. Step 5
- Meanwhile, place the butter in a small saucepan and heat until browned, about 2 minutes. Add the remaining 2 tablespoons of teriyaki sauce. Slice the meatloaf and drizzle each slice with the buttery teriyaki sauce.
