Meatloaf "Cheeseburger"


How to Make Meatloaf Cheeseburger

This meatloaf is loaded with all the ingredients of a traditional cheeseburger. Besides ground beef, it's topped with salty fried bacon bits, ketchup, mustard, red onion, and cheddar cubes that turn into melty cheese pockets when baked. The only thing missing is a pickle. Serve it on the side!

Ingredients:

  • 6 slices white bread, diced
  • 0.5 cups of milk
  • 900 g of ground beef
  • 6 strips crispy bacon, cut into pieces
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 red onions; 1 finely chopped and 1 thinly sliced
  • 1 tbsp. + 2 tbsp. l. ketchup
  • 1/4 cup + 1 tbsp mustard
  • 1 teaspoon coarse salt
  • 1 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
  • 220 g cheddar, cut into small cubes, + 1 cup grated
  • 1/4 cup grated onion (about half an onion)
  • Pickled cucumber slices for serving
Substituting ingredients
1 glass (st.) - 250 ml.
3/4 cup (st.) - 180 ml.
2/3 cup (st.) - 160 ml.
1/2 cup (st.) - 125 ml.
1/3 cup (st.) - 80 ml.
1/4 cup (st.) - 60 ml.
1 tablespoon (tbsp) - 15 ml.
1 teaspoon (tsp) - 5 ml.
1/5 teaspoon (tsp) - 1 ml.

Preparation:

    Step 1
  • Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Spray a baking dish with cooking spray. Pour milk over the bread in a bowl and set aside.
  • Step 2
  • In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, bacon, eggs, chopped red onion, 2 tablespoons ketchup, 1 tablespoon mustard, 1/2 teaspoon salt, and 1/2 teaspoon black pepper. Add the soaked bread and mix with your hands, being careful not to compact the ground beef. Gently fold in the diced cheddar, trying to distribute it evenly throughout the ground beef.
  • Step 3
  • On the prepared baking sheet, form the meat mixture into a loaf approximately 6–8 inches wide and 1.5 inches thick. Combine the grated onion with the remaining 1 cup ketchup, 1/4 cup mustard, 1/2 teaspoon salt, and 1/2 teaspoon black pepper. Spread half the sauce over the meatloaf. Cover the baking sheet with foil and bake for 1 hour.
  • Step 4
  • Remove the foil, brush the meatloaf with the remaining sauce, and continue baking until the internal temperature reaches 160°F (71°C) and the meatloaf is no longer pink in the center, another 35–40 minutes. Sprinkle with grated cheddar and return to the oven for 5 minutes to melt the cheese. Let the meatloaf rest for 10 minutes, then transfer to a platter. Slice and serve on bread slices with sliced ​​red onion and pickles.
