A classic cheeseburger is a juicy beef patty topped with a slice of melting cheese, crisp lettuce, tomato, red onion, and a sauce made with ketchup, mayonnaise, and relish. Nothing extra for a superb, original flavor! You can swap out the sesame seed bun for a whole-wheat bun, which will add a pleasant nutty flavor to your cheeseburger.

Ingredients:

  • 4 whole grain hamburger buns
  • Cooking spray
  • 450 g of ground beef with 10% fat, form into 4 patties
  • 4 slices of cheese
  • 1 cup mayonnaise
  • 2 tbsp sweet relish
  • 1 tbsp ketchup
  • 4 romaine leaves, broken in half
  • 4 tomato slices
  • 4 cups red onion
Substituting ingredients
1 glass (st.) - 250 ml.
3/4 cup (st.) - 180 ml.
2/3 cup (st.) - 160 ml.
1/2 cup (st.) - 125 ml.
1/3 cup (st.) - 80 ml.
1/4 cup (st.) - 60 ml.
1 tablespoon (tbsp) - 15 ml.
1 teaspoon (tsp) - 5 ml.
1/5 teaspoon (tsp) - 1 ml.

Preparation:

    Step 1
  • Heat a grill pan over high heat. Cut the buns in half and lightly spray the insides with cooking spray. Place the buns cut-side down in the pan. Toast them and transfer them to a serving platter.
  • Step 2
  • Keeping the grill pan away from the stove, spray the surface with cooking spray. Season the patties with salt and pepper to taste. Place them in the pan and cook for about 2.5 minutes per side. One minute before the end of the cooking time, top each patty with a slice of cheese.
  • Step 3
  • In a small bowl, combine the mayonnaise, relish, and ketchup. Set aside. To assemble the burgers, place the patties on the bottom halves of the buns. Top each patty with lettuce, tomato, red onion, and dressing and top with the tops of the buns. Serve.
