If you have a few leftover donuts that aren't quite as fresh, turn them into a wonderful bread pudding-like casserole that's perfect for breakfast or dessert. Sliced donuts are mixed with cubes of white bread and topped with a vanilla cream with sweet-spicy cinnamon and refreshing citrus notes from freshly grated orange zest. Allow the donuts to soak in the cream before baking, at least 1 hour. You can also freeze the casserole at this point and bake it straight from the freezer or after defrosting it in the refrigerator. Drizzle the finished casserole with maple syrup and serve with fresh berries.
