Frozen Sangria (Slush)


How to Make Frozen Sangria (Slushie)

This is a new take on sangria: a beloved Spanish drink, made cold in a blender with frozen red wine cubes. Daiquiri will have a new rival – this sangria will become your favorite summer drink.


Ingredients:

  • 1 bottle (750 ml) of fruity red wine
  • 1/4 cup brandy
  • 1/4 cup orange liqueur, such as Triple Sec
  • 1/4 cup very fine sugar
  • 1 package (300 g) frozen mixed berries (about 2.5 cups)
  • Special equipment: 2 ice cube trays
Substituting ingredients
1 glass (st.) - 250 ml.
3/4 cup (st.) - 180 ml.
2/3 cup (st.) - 160 ml.
1/2 cup (st.) - 125 ml.
1/3 cup (st.) - 80 ml.
1/4 cup (st.) - 60 ml.
1 tablespoon (tbsp) - 15 ml.
1 teaspoon (tsp) - 5 ml.
1/5 teaspoon (tsp) - 1 ml.

Preparation:

    Step 1
  • Fill 2 ice cube trays with red wine and place in the freezer until firm, at least 6 hours, preferably overnight.
  • Step 2
  • Combine the brandy, liqueur, and sugar in a small container with a lid. Refrigerate until ready to use.
  • Step 3
  • Place frozen berries, wine ice, and the chilled brandy mixture in a blender. Blend on high speed until you have a thick, fluffy consistency. Pour into a pitcher and serve.
