Manhattan Beer Granita Slush

How to Make Manhattan Beer Granita Slush
Kitchen:American,
Time: 4 hours 10 minutes
Complexity: easily
Quantity: 6 cocktails

An ice-cold beer slush is the base for this adult cocktail. If you prefer a sweeter cocktail, add a wheat-rich bourbon; if you prefer a spicier flavor, use a rye-rich bourbon. Either way, this slush goes down smoothly.

Ingredients:

  • Two bottles (330 ml each) of American lager (bottom-fermented beer), such as Budweiser
  • 12 fresh or frozen pitted cherries
  • 90 ml orange liqueur, such as Grand Marnier
  • 300 ml sweet vermouth
  • 250 ml bourbon
  • 2 tbsp. bitters
Substituting ingredients
1 glass (st.) - 250 ml.
3/4 cup (st.) - 180 ml.
2/3 cup (st.) - 160 ml.
1/2 cup (st.) - 125 ml.
1/3 cup (st.) - 80 ml.
1/4 cup (st.) - 60 ml.
1 tablespoon (tbsp) - 15 ml.
1 teaspoon (tsp) - 5 ml.
1/5 teaspoon (tsp) - 1 ml.

We recommend

Preparation:

    Step 1
  • Pour the beer into a 20cm square baking dish. Freeze until crystals form, stirring every 30 minutes, for about 4 hours.
  • Step 2
  • Meanwhile, place the cherries in a small bowl and pour in the orange liqueur. Cover and refrigerate for 4 hours.
  • Step 3
  • For one cocktail, place about 1 cup of beer ice in a rocks glass.

Pour 50 ml of sweet vermouth, 45 ml of bourbon, and 3 dashes of bitters into a cocktail shaker. Fill with ice, shake, and strain into a glass filled with beer ice. Garnish the cocktail with 2 cherries in liqueur. Serve immediately.
