Granita with Guinness beer

How to Make Guinness Granita
Time: 5 hours 30 minutes
Complexity: easily
Servings: 2

This adult dessert is incredibly easy to make, consisting of just two ingredients and requiring virtually no work. Vanilla syrup perfectly complements the Guinness flavor, resulting in a dessert that's just the right amount of sweet and refreshing. Remember to scrape the granita regularly while freezing to ensure a smooth, snow-like texture. Serve topped with whipped cream.

Ingredients:

  • 2 bottles of 0.33 l Guinness beer
  • 0.5 cup vanilla syrup (e.g. Torani)
Substituting ingredients
1 glass (st.) - 250 ml.
3/4 cup (st.) - 180 ml.
2/3 cup (st.) - 160 ml.
1/2 cup (st.) - 125 ml.
1/3 cup (st.) - 80 ml.
1/4 cup (st.) - 60 ml.
1 tablespoon (tbsp) - 15 ml.
1 teaspoon (tsp) - 5 ml.
1/5 teaspoon (tsp) - 1 ml.

We recommend

Preparation:

    Step 1
  • In a large bowl, combine two 0.33L bottles of Guinness with 0.5 cups of vanilla syrup (such as Torani). Pour into a 22cm square baking pan and freeze until ice crystals begin to form around the edges, about 1 to 1.5 hours.
  • Step 2
  • Scrape the ice with a fork, then continue freezing, scraping every 45 minutes, until the granita is completely frozen, another 3-4 hours. Serve in chilled beer mugs, topped with whipped cream.
