Ireland has become almost synonymous with Guinness, but in recent years, this renowned brand has expanded beyond just dark stout beer. In this cocktail, the citrus notes of a light pilsner, usually subtle, are enhanced by grapefruit juice and bitters.


Ingredients:

  • 25 ml. Aperol liqueur
  • 15 ml grapefruit juice
  • 15 ml lemon juice
  • 15 ml honey syrup, see recipe below
  • 2 ml grapefruit bitters
  • Light Pilsner beer
  • A grapefruit twist and a sprig of mint for garnish
Substituting ingredients
1 glass (st.) - 250 ml.
3/4 cup (st.) - 180 ml.
2/3 cup (st.) - 160 ml.
1/2 cup (st.) - 125 ml.
1/3 cup (st.) - 80 ml.
1/4 cup (st.) - 60 ml.
1 tablespoon (tbsp) - 15 ml.
1 teaspoon (tsp) - 5 ml.
1/5 teaspoon (tsp) - 1 ml.

Preparation:

    Step 1
  • Fill a glass with ice cubes and crushed ice.

    Combine Aperol, grapefruit and lemon juice, honey syrup, and bitters in a shaker with ice. Shake well and strain into a prepared glass.
  • Step 2
  • Top up the glass with beer and garnish with a grapefruit twist and a sprig of mint.

    Honey syrupTake equal parts honey and water and heat in a saucepan, stirring, until the honey dissolves. Cool.
