How to Make - Frozen Margarita in an Ice Cream Maker
Time: 1 hour 20 min.
Complexity: easily
Servings: 4

A frozen Margarita is another treat you can make in an ice cream maker. To speed up the cocktail, you can make the tequila-lime base and chill it ahead of time.

Ingredients:

  • 1/3 cup sugar
  • 350 ml chilled tequila
  • 1 cup chilled lime juice (from about 8 limes), plus 2 limes, cut into wedges for serving
  • 4 tsp chilled orange liqueur
  • Special equipment: ice cream maker
Substituting ingredients
1 glass (st.) - 250 ml.
3/4 cup (st.) - 180 ml.
2/3 cup (st.) - 160 ml.
1/2 cup (st.) - 125 ml.
1/3 cup (st.) - 80 ml.
1/4 cup (st.) - 60 ml.
1 tablespoon (tbsp) - 15 ml.
1 teaspoon (tsp) - 5 ml.
1/5 teaspoon (tsp) - 1 ml.

We recommend

Preparation:

    Step 1
  • In a small saucepan, combine sugar and 1/3 cup water. Cook over low heat, stirring, until the sugar dissolves, about 5 minutes. Let cool completely.
  • Step 2
  • In a medium bowl, whisk together the tequila, lime juice, chilled syrup, liqueur, and 1 cup cold water. Freeze in an ice cream maker for about 45 minutes, following the manufacturer's instructions (see Chef's Note). Transfer the frozen cocktail to a chilled pitcher. Freeze until ready to serve.
  • Step 3
  • Sprinkle salt evenly over a small plate. Wet the rims of 4 chilled rocks glasses or wine glasses and press them into the salt. Divide the Margarita between the glasses. Serve with lime wedges.

    Chef's note

The cooking time in an ice cream maker will depend on the specific model.
