Mardi Gras (the equivalent of the Eastern Slavic Maslenitsa) is the time for "Magi Pie," a time when sweet cinnamon pies are baked in the southern United States in honor of the three wise men of the Bible. These pies are decorated with sprinkles of various colors: purple symbolizes justice, green faith, and gold strength. New Orleans restaurant BOURBON HOUSE took this idea and embodied it in a creamy "Magi Pie" cocktail, garnished with purple, green, and gold sugar.

The recipes use measuring containers with the following volumes:
1 glass (st.) - 250 ml.
3/4 cup (st.) - 180 ml.
2/3 cup (st.) - 160 ml.
1/2 cup (st.) - 125 ml.
1/3 cup (st.) - 80 ml.
1/4 cup (st.) - 60 ml.
1 tablespoon (tbsp) - 15 ml.
1 teaspoon (tsp) - 5 ml.
1/5 teaspoon (tsp) - 1 ml.

Ingredients for the recipe:

  • 1 cup vanilla ice cream
  • 50 ml of golden rum
  • 15 ml cinnamon-flavored syrup
  • 7 ml orgeat (almond syrup)
  • 7 ml of orange juice
  • Purple, green, and gold decorative sugar, for sprinkling

We recommend
