This simple frozen dessert is made with freshly squeezed orange and lemon juice, zest, and milk. If you love ice cream but are trying to avoid extra calories, orange sorbet is perfect for you.



The recipes use measuring containers with the following volumes:
1 glass (st.) - 250 ml.
3/4 cup (st.) - 180 ml.
2/3 cup (st.) - 160 ml.
1/2 cup (st.) - 125 ml.
1/3 cup (st.) - 80 ml.
1/4 cup (st.) - 60 ml.
1 tablespoon (tbsp) - 15 ml.
1 teaspoon (tsp) - 5 ml.
1/5 teaspoon (tsp) - 1 ml.

Ingredients for the recipe:


  • 200 g of sugar
  • 1.5 tbsp orange zest, finely grated
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 2 cups freshly squeezed orange juice, from about 900-1400 g of oranges
  • 1 tbsp. freshly squeezed lemon juice
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1.5 cups very cold whole milk

Cooking the dish according to the recipe:


  1. In a food processor, combine all ingredients except the milk and process until the sugar dissolves, about 1 minute. Pour the mixture into a bowl and stir in the milk. Cover the bowl and refrigerate for about 1 hour, until the mixture reaches 4°C (39°F) or below.
  2. Pour the mixture into an ice cream maker and process until it reaches the consistency of soft serve ice cream. Serve immediately or transfer to a lidded container and freeze until firm, about 3 hours.
