Rajma - Vegetarian Chili - Detailed Recipe.



The recipes use measuring containers with the following volumes:
1 glass (st.) - 250 ml.
3/4 cup (st.) - 180 ml.
2/3 cup (st.) - 160 ml.
1/2 cup (st.) - 125 ml.
1/3 cup (st.) - 80 ml.
1/4 cup (st.) - 60 ml.
1 tablespoon (tbsp) - 15 ml.
1 teaspoon (tsp) - 5 ml.
1/5 teaspoon (tsp) - 1 ml.

Ingredients for the recipe:


  • 2 cups of canned beans, strained from brine (1 1/2 lb can)
  • 1 diced green bell pepper
  • 4 firm, ripe tomatoes, cut into 2.5 cm pieces
  • 2 tsp. crushed ginger root or 1 tsp. ground ginger
  • 2 tablespoons of vegetable oil
  • 1 cup chopped onion
  • 2 crushed cloves of garlic
  • 1 teaspoon cumin seeds
  • 1 teaspoon Garam masala spice mix
  • 1/2 tsp lemon pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon dried red pepper flakes, or to taste (optional)
  • Salt and ground pepper to taste
  • Juice of 1/2 lemon or to taste
  • 3 tablespoons chopped fresh cilantro

Cooking the dish according to the recipe:


  1. In a large saucepan, heat the oil over medium heat, add the onion and pepper and cook, stirring occasionally, for 5 minutes.

    Add garlic, tomatoes, ginger root, cumin seeds, spice mix Garam masala, lemon pepper, dried red pepper flakes (optional) and simmer the mixture, stirring occasionally, for 10 minutes.

    Add the beans, season with salt and pepper to taste, and cook, stirring occasionally, for another 5 minutes. Add the lemon juice and cilantro.
