Non-alcoholic ginger beer - detailed recipe.



The recipes use measuring containers with the following volumes:
1 glass (st.) - 250 ml.
3/4 cup (st.) - 180 ml.
2/3 cup (st.) - 160 ml.
1/2 cup (st.) - 125 ml.
1/3 cup (st.) - 80 ml.
1/4 cup (st.) - 60 ml.
1 tablespoon (tbsp) - 15 ml.
1 teaspoon (tsp) - 5 ml.
1/5 teaspoon (tsp) - 1 ml.

Ingredients for the recipe:


  • 1 liter of sparkling water
  • 1 cup peeled and chopped fresh ginger (about 170 ml)
  • 1 tbsp. sugar turbinado
  • 4 allspice berries
  • 2 cloves
  • 1 tbsp chopped candied ginger (candied fruit)
  • 2 tbsp freshly squeezed lime juice, optional

Cooking the dish according to the recipe:


  1. In a medium saucepan, combine the ginger, sugar, allspice, cloves, crystallized ginger, and 2 cups of water. Bring to a boil. Remove from heat, cover, and let simmer for 45 minutes.

    Prepare a large bowl by setting it over ice. Strain the ginger syrup into the bowl, squeezing all the liquid out of the ginger. Cool to room temperature.
  2. Before serving, stir the ginger syrup with sparkling water in a pitcher. Add lime juice if desired. Serve the ginger beer over ice.

    Note

    Ginger syrup can be stored in the refrigerator for one week.
