Monkey bread is a popular American pastry, a pie or large cake made from numerous rolled dough balls filled with filling, which are then separated by hand and eaten. Its name likely comes from the monkey-like way of eating the bread. Although monkey bread is usually baked sweet, it's equally delicious with a savory filling. Make the filling from the essential cheeseburger ingredients: ground beef, cheese, pickles, sauce, and crispy bacon. Roll it into dough circles, forming balls, and roll in sesame seeds. Assemble the balls into a large loaf and bake. It tastes just like a real cheeseburger. This appetizer will be a hit at any house party.

Cooking the dish according to the recipe:
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Spray a 12-cup muffin tin with cooking spray.
- In a medium bowl, combine the ketchup, pickles, and mustard. Season with salt and set aside.
- Place the bacon in a large skillet and heat over medium heat. Cook until golden and crispy, about 4 minutes per side. Transfer the bacon to a paper towel-lined plate, pour the rendered fat from the skillet into another container, and reserve for another use. Cut the bacon into 1-inch (2.5 cm) pieces.
- Heat the oil in the same skillet over medium-high heat. When it shimmers, add the ground beef, a pinch of salt, and a few grinds of pepper. Cook, breaking up the ground beef with a wooden spoon, until browned in spots and cooked through, 3-4 minutes. Add the onion and cook, stirring constantly, until translucent and softened, about 2 minutes. Using a slotted spoon, transfer the meat mixture to a medium bowl, reserving the liquid in the skillet. Stir in 1 cup of the ketchup sauce. Let cool slightly and then stir in the shredded cheese.
- Place sesame seeds in a shallow bowl.
- Divide each bun into 2 thinner circles (the dough is flaky, so it will separate easily). Flatten a piece of dough between your palms. Spoon about 1 tablespoon of filling into the center of the dough circle and top with a piece of bacon. Gather the dough around the filling and seal into a small ball. Roll the smooth bottom of the ball in sesame seeds. Place the ball, sesame-side down, in the prepared pan and repeat until the bottom of the pan is covered with dough balls. Then divide the remaining bun dough and fill with the bacon filling using the same method, but do not roll in sesame seeds. Arrange in an even layer in the pan.
- Bake the monkey bread until golden brown and the crust is cooked through, 50-55 minutes. Transfer to a serving platter and remove from the pan. Let rest for 10 minutes. Serve warm with the remaining ketchup sauce.
