Time: 1 hour.
Complexity: easily
Servings: 8 - 10

This monkey bread, made in the form of numerous interlocking balls that you tear apart and eat by hand, is baked using a simplified method using store-bought puff pastry dough. The dough is already formed and ready to bake, making it incredibly quick to bake. Each half of the bun is rolled into a ball, dipped in olive oil, rolled in a mixture of grated Parmesan cheese and aromatic herbs with garlic, and placed in a large baking pan. During baking, the balls adhere to each other and develop a stunning golden crust. Serve monkey bread with cheese and herbs as an appetizer or as a substitute for regular bread with various dishes.

The recipes use measuring containers with the following volumes:
1 glass (st.) - 250 ml.
3/4 cup (st.) - 180 ml.
2/3 cup (st.) - 160 ml.
1/2 cup (st.) - 125 ml.
1/3 cup (st.) - 80 ml.
1/4 cup (st.) - 60 ml.

1 teaspoon (tsp) - 5 ml.
1/5 teaspoon (tsp) - 1 ml.

  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano

Cooking the dish according to the recipe:

  1. Position a rack in the lower third of the oven and preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Spray the pan with cooking spray.
  2. In a small bowl, combine the Parmesan, oregano, garlic, rosemary, and thyme, distributing the ingredients evenly. Roll half of each bun into a ball. Place 8 balls in a medium bowl and drizzle with 2 tablespoons of olive oil, tossing well to coat.

  3. Transfer each ball to the Parmesan mixture to coat completely, then place in the prepared pan. Working in batches of 8, repeat with the remaining dough balls, arranging them in the pan.
  4. Bake until risen and golden brown, about 50 minutes. Check the bread halfway through and cover with foil if it's browning too quickly.
  5. Cool for 10 minutes. Use a thin spatula to loosen the sides of the bread. Invert the pan onto a baking sheet and place the monkey bread, pretty side up, on a serving platter.
