Air fryering makes your breaded shrimp as delicious and crispy as deep-fried shrimp, but without the extra oil, fat, and calories. Use large peeled shrimp with tails on. Each shrimp is dredged in seasoned flour, then in egg, and coated with coarse, fluffy panko breadcrumbs. After frying, the shrimp are crispy on the outside and tender and juicy on the inside. Serve with spicy remoulade or any other sauce of your choice. A perfect appetizer for house parties or movie night.

Cooking the dish according to the recipe:

  1. Fried shrimp:

Spray the basket of a 3.5-quart air fryer with cooking spray and set aside. Pat the shrimp dry with paper towels, then sprinkle with a pinch of salt and freshly ground black pepper.
  2. In a shallow bowl or baking dish, combine the flour with 3/4 teaspoon of salt and a pinch of freshly ground black pepper. In another shallow bowl, beat the eggs with a pinch of salt. Place the panko breadcrumbs in a third shallow bowl.

  3. Dredge the shrimp in the seasoned flour, shaking off any excess, then dip in the beaten eggs and coat with breadcrumbsToss to coat evenly. Transfer to a large plate or rimmed baking sheet and repeat with the remaining shrimp.
  4. Preheat the air fryer to 375°F (195°C). Working in batches, place the shrimp in a single layer in the air fryer basket and lightly spray with cooking spray. Cook until golden brown and cooked through, turning halfway through, about 10 minutes.
  5. Spicy remoulade:

Meanwhile, in a small bowl, combine the mayonnaise, pickled jalapeños, mustard, ketchup, hot sauce, and green onions until smooth. Serve with fried shrimp for dipping.

    Advice

You may need to fry the shrimp in 2-3 batches, depending on the size of the air fryer basket.
