Tostones are Latin American fried plantains that form crispy flatbreads or chips if you crush them thinly. Air fryer tostones are perfectly crispy and delicious, using minimal oil. Plantain slices are first baked until soft, then flattened and fried until crispy. Dip them in salsa and enjoy!

The recipes use measuring containers with the following volumes:
1 glass (st.) - 250 ml.
3/4 cup (st.) - 180 ml.
2/3 cup (st.) - 160 ml.
1/2 cup (st.) - 125 ml.
1/3 cup (st.) - 80 ml.
1/4 cup (st.) - 60 ml.
1 tablespoon (tbsp) - 15 ml.
1 teaspoon (tsp) - 5 ml.
1/5 teaspoon (tsp) - 1 ml.

Cooking the dish according to the recipe:

  1. Preheat a 6-liter air fryer to 175°C.
  2. Toss the plantains with vegetable oil and 3/4 teaspoon coarse salt. Arrange them in an even layer in the air fryer and cook until tender, 3-4 minutes per side. Transfer the plantains to a large sheet of parchment paper and cover with another sheet of parchment paper; crush each piece with the bottom of a glass.

  3. Increase the air fryer temperature to 200°C. Place the plantains back in the air fryer in an even layer (it's okay if they overlap slightly) and continue frying until crispy, about 4 more minutes per side.
  4. Sprinkle with sea salt. Serve with salsa verde.
