Whole chicken fried in an air fryer

How to Cook - Whole Chicken, Air Fryer Fried
Time: 1 hour.
Complexity: easily
Servings: 2 - 3

A whole chicken roasted in an air fryer is especially delicious: the fat is perfectly rendered, leaving deliciously crispy skin, while the inside remains very juicy, infused with the flavors of its filling. Before roasting, stuff the cavity with half a lemon, a halved head of garlic, and sprigs of fresh rosemary, thyme, and sage—a perfect spice blend for a delicious holiday chicken.

Ingredients:

  • 1 small chicken (weighing 1.3 - 1.5 kg)
  • 1 tbsp. l. olive oil
  • 3 sprigs of fresh rosemary, thyme, sage, or a mixture of these
  • 1 head of garlic, cut in half horizontally
  • Half a lemon
  • Special equipment: air grill with a capacity of 3.5 liters.
Substituting ingredients
1 glass (st.) - 250 ml.
3/4 cup (st.) - 180 ml.
2/3 cup (st.) - 160 ml.
1/2 cup (st.) - 125 ml.
1/3 cup (st.) - 80 ml.
1/4 cup (st.) - 60 ml.
1 tablespoon (tbsp) - 15 ml.
1 teaspoon (tsp) - 5 ml.
1/5 teaspoon (tsp) - 1 ml.

We recommend

Preparation:

    Step 1
  • Preheat a 3.5L air fryer to 190°C and spray the basket with cooking spray. Rub the outside of the chicken with olive oil.
  • Step 2
  • Rub the chicken inside and out with 1 tablespoon of salt and a little freshly ground black pepper. Fill the cavity with herbs, garlic, and lemon. Place the chicken breast-side up in the air fryer, making sure it doesn't touch the top of the air fryer.
  • Step 3
  • Roast the chicken until the skin is golden and crispy and a thermometer inserted into the thickest part of the thigh, away from the bone, reads 165°F (74°C), 50 to 60 minutes.
