If you love the flavor of sweet potatoes, try these sweet potato fries. These incredibly tasty pieces will be a hit at your party with any dipping sauce. They're just as delicious as traditional fries, thanks to a cornstarch and soda batter that creates a wonderfully crispy crust. Dip thickly sliced ​​sweet potatoes in the batter and deep-fry, then sprinkle with a spice mix of garlic and smoked paprika when done. They're also a great side dish for meats, burgers, or sandwiches.



The recipes use measuring containers with the following volumes:
1 glass (st.) - 250 ml.
3/4 cup (st.) - 180 ml.
2/3 cup (st.) - 160 ml.
1/2 cup (st.) - 125 ml.
1/3 cup (st.) - 80 ml.
1/4 cup (st.) - 60 ml.
1 tablespoon (tbsp) - 15 ml.
1 teaspoon (tsp) - 5 ml.
1/5 teaspoon (tsp) - 1 ml.

Ingredients for the recipe:


  • 900 g sweet potato, cut into strips 1-0.5 cm thick.
  • 6 tbsp. peanut oil, for deep frying
  • 1 teaspoon coarse salt
  • 0.5 tsp garlic powder
  • 0.5 tsp smoked paprika
  • 1/8 teaspoon sugar
  • 1 cup cornstarch
  • 3/4 cup sparkling water, chilled

Cooking the dish according to the recipe:


  1. Heat oil in a heavy-bottomed cauldron or deep fryer to 190°C. Preheat oven to 95°C.
  2. Combine salt, garlic powder, paprika and sugar in a bowl and set aside.

  3. In a bowl, combine cornstarch and soda water. Dip the sweet potatoes in the batter a few times, let them drain, and place them on a wire rack. Repeat with the remaining sweet potatoes.
  4. Fry half the sweet potato, stirring occasionally, until golden brown and crisp, 6-8 minutes. Sprinkle with the spice mixture and place in the oven on a paper towel-lined baking sheet to maintain the temperature. Repeat with the other sweet potato half. Serve hot.
