Sweet potato slices are tossed with honey and ancho chili pepper, infusing them with a rich, savory, and sweet flavor after baking. Top the finished slices with a small pinch of grated cheddar and serve as a side dish with meat dishes or as an appetizer with a dipping sauce.


Ingredients:

  • 3 sweet potatoes
  • 2 tbsp. l. olive oil
  • 2 tablespoons of honey
  • 1 teaspoon ground ancho pepper
  • 1 teaspoon coarse salt
  • Cheddar cheese
Substituting ingredients
1 glass (st.) - 250 ml.
3/4 cup (st.) - 180 ml.
2/3 cup (st.) - 160 ml.
1/2 cup (st.) - 125 ml.
1/3 cup (st.) - 80 ml.
1/4 cup (st.) - 60 ml.
1 tablespoon (tbsp) - 15 ml.
1 teaspoon (tsp) - 5 ml.
1/5 teaspoon (tsp) - 1 ml.

Preparation:

    Step 1
  • Cut 3 sweet potatoes lengthwise into 8 slices each. Add 2 tablespoons each of olive oil and honey, 1 teaspoon each of ground ancho chili and coarse salt, and season with pepper. Toss.
  • Step 2
  • Place on a baking sheet and bake at 425°F (220°C), turning once, until lightly browned and the sweet potato is tender, 25-30 minutes. Sprinkle with finely grated aged cheddar and chopped green onions.
