If you don't have a dedicated panini maker, this method from Giada De Laurentiis will help: place the sandwiches on a baking sheet, press another hot baking sheet on top, and bake until the cheese filling melts. Don't forget to preheat the baking sheet in the oven for a crispy crust.

The recipes use measuring containers with the following volumes:
1 glass (st.) - 250 ml.
3/4 cup (st.) - 180 ml.
2/3 cup (st.) - 160 ml.
1/2 cup (st.) - 125 ml.
1/3 cup (st.) - 80 ml.
1/4 cup (st.) - 60 ml.
1 tablespoon (tbsp) - 15 ml.
1 teaspoon (tsp) - 5 ml.
1/5 teaspoon (tsp) - 1 ml.

Ingredients for the recipe:

  • 110 g of cream cheese
  • 1 tbsp sour cream
  • 1 clove garlic, crushed
  • 0.5 tsp grated lemon zest (from half a lemon)
  • 1/4 teaspoon coarse salt
  • 1 package (280g) frozen chopped spinach, thawed and squeezed out thoroughly
  • 1/2 cup marinated artichoke hearts, patted dry
  • 0.5 tbsp. grated mozzarella
  • 1/4 tbsp. grated parmesan
  • 0.5 cup mayonnaise
  • 12 slices of white bread
  • Special equipment: 2 baking sheets with sides

We recommend

Cooking the dish according to the recipe:

  1. Place a rimmed baking sheet in the oven and preheat to 230°C.
  2. Combine the cream cheese, sour cream, garlic, lemon zest, salt, spinach, and artichoke hearts in a food processor. Blend until evenly distributed. Add the mozzarella and Parmesan cheese and mix.

  3. Spread 1/4 cup mayonnaise on half the bread slices. Place the slices, mayonnaise side down, on a second rimmed baking sheet and spread the spinach filling evenly over them, right to the edges. Top with the remaining bread slices. Spread the top slices with the remaining 1/4 cup mayonnaise.
  4. Carefully remove the hot baking sheet from the oven and place it directly on top of the sandwiches. Return the baking sheets to the oven and bake until the sandwiches are golden brown and the filling is melted, about 15 minutes.
  5. Let sit for 5 minutes before cutting into small squares or triangles. Serve the sandwiches warm.
