To bake a delicious and flavorful apple pie in a slow cooker, you don't need any special pans or utensils. This simple recipe allows you to cook it right in a standard bowl. Serve the apple pie with a scoop of ice cream and caramel sauce for a cozy autumn dessert.



The recipes use measuring containers with the following volumes:
1 glass (st.) - 250 ml.
3/4 cup (st.) - 180 ml.
2/3 cup (st.) - 160 ml.
1/2 cup (st.) - 125 ml.
1/3 cup (st.) - 80 ml.
1/4 cup (st.) - 60 ml.
1 tablespoon (tbsp) - 15 ml.
1 teaspoon (tsp) - 5 ml.
1/5 teaspoon (tsp) - 1 ml.

Ingredients for the recipe:


  • 1/4 cup dark brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp ground allspice
  • A pinch of grated nutmeg
  • 6 Honeycrisp apples, peeled and cores, leaving apples whole
  • 1 box (430 g) of yellow sponge cake mix
  • 110g unsalted butter, melt and let cool
  • 3 large eggs
  • 3/4 cup sliced ​​skinless almonds
  • Ice cream, for serving
  • Caramel sauce, for serving
  • Special equipment: Instant Pot 6-quart slow cooker.

Cooking the dish according to the recipe:


  1. In a bowl, combine the brown sugar, granulated sugar, cinnamon, allspice, nutmeg, and 1.5 cups of water and transfer to the slow cooker. Add the apples. Following the manufacturer's instructions, close the lid of the slow cooker and set the pressure cooker to low power for 1 minute (see Note).
  2. Once the cycle is complete, follow the manufacturer's instructions to quickly release the pressure and wait for the cycle to complete. Carefully, being careful not to burn yourself with steam, open and remove the lid.

  3. Break each apple in half with a wooden spoon. Place the sponge mixture in a bowl and whisk together with the butter, eggs, and 3 tablespoons of the cooking liquid from the pan; it should form a thick batter. Spread it evenly over the apples in the slow cooker. Sprinkle with almonds. Close the lid and set the pressure cooker to low power for 30 minutes.
  4. Once the cycle is complete, follow the manufacturer's instructions to quickly release the pressure and wait for the cycle to complete. Carefully, being careful not to burn yourself with steam, open and remove the lid. Let the pie rest for 15 minutes. Spoon it into serving bowls and serve with ice cream and caramel sauce.
