Agua fresca is a popular Mexican refreshing drink made with fresh, seasonal fruit. The star of this agua fresca is the melon. It adds a pleasant sweetness, while the mint adds an extra touch of freshness. If you happen to have a melon that's not very sweet, this recipe is a great way to use it.
The recipes use measuring containers with the following volumes:
1 glass (st.) - 250 ml.
3/4 cup (st.) - 180 ml.
2/3 cup (st.) - 160 ml.
1/2 cup (st.) - 125 ml.
1/3 cup (st.) - 80 ml.
1/4 cup (st.) - 60 ml.
1 tablespoon (tbsp) - 15 ml.
1 teaspoon (tsp) - 5 ml.
1/5 teaspoon (tsp) - 1 ml.

- 4 cups melon, peeled, seeded and diced
- 1/2 cup sugar (or 1/3 cup agave nectar; use more or less depending on the ripeness of the melon)
- 1/4 cup coarsely chopped fresh mint leaves
- Ice
- Vodka, optional

Cooking the dish according to the recipe:
- Place the melon, sugar, mint, and 2 cups of water in a blender. Blend until smooth, about 1 minute. Strain into a pitcher filled with ice. Serve cold.
- You can also use it as a base for a cocktail, if desired, by mixing 1/3 cup agua fresca with a shot of vodka in a shaker.
