A chai latte is a blend of milk and traditional Indian black tea with spices. This recipe uses almond milk and brown sugar. The combination of ginger, cinnamon, and pepper makes the drink incredibly spicy and invigorating. It can be served with a small shot of alcohol.

The recipes use measuring containers with the following volumes:
1 glass (st.) - 250 ml.
3/4 cup (st.) - 180 ml.
2/3 cup (st.) - 160 ml.
1/2 cup (st.) - 125 ml.
1/3 cup (st.) - 80 ml.
1/4 cup (st.) - 60 ml.
1 tablespoon (tbsp) - 15 ml.
1 teaspoon (tsp) - 5 ml.
1/5 teaspoon (tsp) - 1 ml.

Ingredients for the recipe:

  • 7 bags of masala tea
  • 6 black peppercorns
  • 2 cinnamon sticks
  • 1 piece ginger (5 cm), peeled and cut into 8 pieces
  • 6 tbsp unsweetened almond milk no additives
  • 3/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup rye whiskey
  • 8 orange twists (slices or spiralized peel), optional
  • Special equipment: a small multicooker, optional

Cooking the dish according to the recipe:

  1. Combine the tea bags, peppercorns, cinnamon sticks, ginger, and 4 cups of water in a large saucepan. Bring to a boil over medium heat. Add the almond milk and sugar. Reduce the heat and simmer for about 10 minutes.
  2. Strain the mixture into a small slow cooker to keep warm, or pour immediately into 8 mugs, reserving the spices in the saucepan. Serve with rye whiskey, allowing guests to add 30 grams of alcohol themselves, and garnish with orange twists if desired.
