French-style baked sweet onions - a detailed recipe.



The recipes use measuring containers with the following volumes:
1 glass (st.) - 250 ml.
3/4 cup (st.) - 180 ml.
2/3 cup (st.) - 160 ml.
1/2 cup (st.) - 125 ml.
1/3 cup (st.) - 80 ml.
1/4 cup (st.) - 60 ml.
1 tablespoon (tbsp) - 15 ml.
1 teaspoon (tsp) - 5 ml.
1/5 teaspoon (tsp) - 1 ml.

Ingredients for the recipe:


  • 2 large sweet onions, cut into rings
  • 1/2 cup grated Gruyere cheese
  • 3 tbsp. Worcestershire sauce
  • 2 tbsp. l. olive oil
  • 1/4 cup water
  • Salt and freshly ground pepper
  • 1 cup croutons

Cooking the dish according to the recipe:


  1. Preheat oven to 220°C. Grease a baking dish with vegetable oil.
  2. Place the onion rings in the prepared pan. In a separate bowl, combine the Worcestershire sauce, olive oil, 1/4 cup water, and salt and pepper to taste. Pour the mixture over the onions.

  3. Cook the onions in a preheated oven, covered, for 25 minutes, until softened. Mix the croutons with the cheese and a little parsley, olive oil, salt, and pepper.

    Place the breadcrumbs on the onions and continue baking uncovered for another 5 minutes.
