Before pan-frying, blanch long beans in boiling water for a couple of minutes to soften them slightly while retaining their crunch. Stir-fry the beans in butter with green onions, garlic, red pepper, and ginger for a savory Asian flavor, then glaze with honey, broth, and sesame oil to add that extra sweetness and umami. Serve sprinkled with sesame seeds as a side dish for meat or poultry.



The recipes use measuring containers with the following volumes:
1 glass (st.) - 250 ml.
3/4 cup (st.) - 180 ml.
2/3 cup (st.) - 160 ml.
1/2 cup (st.) - 125 ml.
1/3 cup (st.) - 80 ml.
1/4 cup (st.) - 60 ml.
1 tablespoon (tbsp) - 15 ml.
1 teaspoon (tsp) - 5 ml.
1/5 teaspoon (tsp) - 1 ml.

Ingredients for the recipe:


  • 220 g long Chinese asparagus beans
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 2 tablespoons thinly sliced ​​green onions
  • 1 tbsp. chopped fresh ginger
  • 1 tbsp. minced garlic
  • A pinch of red pepper flakes
  • 0.5 cup chicken broth
  • 1 tbsp. honey
  • 1 tbsp. l. sesame oil
  • 2 tbsp sesame seeds, optional

Cooking the dish according to the recipe:


  1. Blanch the beans in a large saucepan of boiling water for 2 minutes, until slightly tender. Let cool.
  2. In a large skillet, heat the butter over medium-high heat. Add the green onions, ginger, and garlic. Stir. Add the red pepper flakes and green beans. Cook for a few minutes. Add the chicken broth, honey, and sesame oil. Season with salt and pepper to taste, and add sesame seeds if desired. Stir.
