If you're looking for a fun yet simple way to serve green beans, try cooking them Asian-style. First, blanch the beans to soften them while still retaining their crispness and vibrant green color. To do this, prepare a bowl of ice water or an ice bath next to the stove and immediately transfer the cooked beans into it. Then, fry them in butter, spices, and soy sauce for a couple of minutes. This will keep the beans from overcooking and coat them with a delicious soy sauce.

The recipes use measuring containers with the following volumes:
1 glass (st.) - 250 ml.
3/4 cup (st.) - 180 ml.
2/3 cup (st.) - 160 ml.
1/2 cup (st.) - 125 ml.
1/3 cup (st.) - 80 ml.
1/4 cup (st.) - 60 ml.
1 tablespoon (tbsp) - 15 ml.
1 teaspoon (tsp) - 5 ml.
1/5 teaspoon (tsp) - 1 ml.

Ingredients for the recipe:

  • 1 kg green beans, trimmed
  • 2 tbsp. l. rapeseed oil
  • 2 tbsp (30 g) butter
  • 4 cloves garlic, chopped
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce

Cooking the dish according to the recipe:

  1. Fill a large saucepan with water, season generously with salt, and bring to a boil. Add the green beans and blanch until crisp-tender, 2-3 minutes. Immediately transfer to an ice bath to stop cooking, then transfer to a paper towel-lined baking sheet or a wire rack to drain.
  2. In a large skillet, heat the canola oil and butter over medium-high heat. Once the butter has melted, add the garlic and stir until fragrant, 1-2 minutes. Add the green beans, soy sauce, and black pepper and cook until the sauce has reduced slightly and the beans are thoroughly coated, being careful not to overcook them.

  3. Transfer the beans to a serving platter, sprinkle with dill and serve hot.
