This simple side dish will immerse you in the flavors and aromas of Indian cuisine in just minutes. Green beans are fried in vegetable oil with coconut, curry powder, garlic, cumin, and cayenne pepper. Stir-fry frequently to ensure the beans remain juicy, crispy, and tender, while the spices infuse their aromas. Perfect as a vegetarian appetizer or as a side dish for chicken and rice.



The recipes use measuring containers with the following volumes:
1 glass (st.) - 250 ml.
3/4 cup (st.) - 180 ml.
2/3 cup (st.) - 160 ml.
1/2 cup (st.) - 125 ml.
1/3 cup (st.) - 80 ml.
1/4 cup (st.) - 60 ml.
1 tablespoon (tbsp) - 15 ml.
1 teaspoon (tsp) - 5 ml.
1/5 teaspoon (tsp) - 1 ml.

Ingredients for the recipe:


  • 450 g trimmed green beans, cut into 1 cm pieces.
  • 1/4 cup unsweetened grated coconut
  • 1.5 tsp curry powder
  • 1/4 tsp cayenne pepper
  • 2 tablespoons of vegetable oil
  • 1 tsp cumin (seeds)
  • 1 teaspoon chopped garlic

Cooking the dish according to the recipe:


  1. Combine coconut, curry powder, cayenne pepper and 1/4 cup water in a small bowl.
  2. Heat vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Sauté the cumin and garlic until fragrant, 30 seconds. Add the beans and a splash of water. Cook, stirring, until the beans are slightly tender, about 6 minutes. Add 1/2 teaspoon of salt.

  3. Add the coconut mixture and cook, stirring, for another 2 minutes.
