This incredibly simple pasta is a truly Italian dish that doesn't require any expensive ingredients and is effortless to prepare. All you need is cooked spaghetti, olive oil, garlic, red pepper flakes, and fresh aromatic herbs like parsley, basil, and mint. The spaghetti is sautéed in a generous amount of garlic-infused extra-virgin olive oil. This makes a wonderful pasta sauce, and the red pepper adds just the right amount of piquant notes. Once the spaghetti is cooked, sprinkle it with aromatic herbs and serve as is or as a side dish with meat.

The recipes use measuring containers with the following volumes:
1 glass (st.) - 250 ml.
3/4 cup (st.) - 180 ml.
2/3 cup (st.) - 160 ml.
1/2 cup (st.) - 125 ml.
1/3 cup (st.) - 80 ml.
1/4 cup (st.) - 60 ml.
1 tablespoon (tbsp) - 15 ml.
1 teaspoon (tsp) - 5 ml.
1/5 teaspoon (tsp) - 1 ml.

Cooking the dish according to the recipe:

  1. Bring 6 quarts of salted water to a boil in a large saucepan. Add the pasta and cook until al dente, 6-8 minutes. Drain the spaghetti in a colander, discarding 2 tablespoons of the cooking water. The cooking water will help make the sauce. Don't rinse the spaghetti: you want the natural starch to remain on the surface so the sauce will coat it better.
  2. Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the garlic and cook until golden and fragrant. It's important not to let the garlic brown, as this will make it bitter. Remove the garlic from the oil. Add the red pepper flakes and cook for 1 minute. Carefully add the pasta and toss to coat with the flavored oil. Add the reserved pasta water and cook, stirring, until a sauce forms, for 1 minute.

  3. Remove the pan from the heat and sprinkle the spaghetti with fresh herbs.
