Italian potato gnocchi are not only a great side dish, but also a wonderful base for a delicious casserole. Prepare an oven-safe pan for this casserole. First, the gnocchi are mixed with fried onions and ham and simmered in a little broth on the stovetop. Then, along with green peas and cream, they are topped with grated cheese. The casserole is finished in the oven until the cheese is deliciously melted and golden brown. Serve immediately as a side dish or as a standalone dish. Perfect for a hearty breakfast.
