If you're hosting an Asian-inspired dinner, make this quick and easy, yet delicious lo mein noodle dish with mushrooms and vegetables in a fragrant sauce the main dish. You can add any shredded meat or poultry you have on hand to the noodles if desired. Rachael Ray suggests adding store-bought spring rolls with duck sauce for dipping, melon and pineapple slices for dessert, fortune cookies, and green tea. You can also add any combination of prepared shredded pork, chicken, or peeled shrimp to this dish. All of these can be found at Asian markets and in Asian grocery stores, and in just half an hour, you'll have an atmospheric dinner ready that's sure to delight your guests.



The recipes use measuring containers with the following volumes:
1 glass (st.) - 250 ml.
3/4 cup (st.) - 180 ml.
2/3 cup (st.) - 160 ml.
1/2 cup (st.) - 125 ml.
1/3 cup (st.) - 80 ml.
1/4 cup (st.) - 60 ml.
1 tablespoon (tbsp) - 15 ml.
1 teaspoon (tsp) - 5 ml.
1/5 teaspoon (tsp) - 1 ml.

Ingredients for the recipe:


  • 450 g lo mein noodles or thin spaghetti, cooked until al dente
  • 2 tbsp vegetable oil or wok oil
  • 1 cup snow peas, halved diagonally
  • 1 red bell pepper, seeded and cut into strips
  • 220g assorted mushrooms (shiitake, straw mushrooms, winter mushrooms and oyster mushrooms), coarsely chopped if necessary
  • 4 green onions, thinly sliced ​​diagonally
  • 2 cups fresh bean sprouts
  • 5 cm ginger root, finely chopped or grated
  • 4 cloves garlic, crushed
  • 0.5 cup aged tamari sauce
  • 1 tbsp dark sesame oil, a few drops

Cooking the dish according to the recipe:


  1. Heat a wok or large nonstick skillet over high heat. When the pan is very hot, add the oil (it will smoke slightly), then immediately add the snow peas, peppers, mushrooms, green onions, and bean sprouts. Stir-fry for 1 minute to infuse the oil with flavor, then add the ginger and garlic and stir-fry for 2 minutes.
  2. Add the cooked noodles and toss to distribute the ingredients evenly. Add the tamari soy sauce and toss to coat the noodles evenly. Transfer the lo mein to a serving platter and drizzle with dark sesame oil.
