Potatoes, butter, and milk—all you need for perfect mashed potatoes, a perfect complement to any meat, fish, or chicken dish. These mashed potatoes can also be used as a filling for dumplings or as a topping for casseroles.



The recipes use measuring containers with the following volumes:
1 glass (st.) - 250 ml.
3/4 cup (st.) - 180 ml.
2/3 cup (st.) - 160 ml.
1/2 cup (st.) - 125 ml.
1/3 cup (st.) - 80 ml.
1/4 cup (st.) - 60 ml.
1 tablespoon (tbsp) - 15 ml.
1 teaspoon (tsp) - 5 ml.
1/5 teaspoon (tsp) - 1 ml.

Ingredients for the recipe:


  • 1 kg Idaho potatoes, do not peel
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 110 g unsalted butter

Cooking the dish according to the recipe:


  1. Place the potatoes in a medium saucepan, cover with cold water, and add 2 tablespoons of salt. Bring to a boil and simmer, uncovered, until tender, about 45 minutes. Drain.
  2. Peel the potatoes and return them to the pan (optional, press them through a potato masher or grate them through a vegetable grinder after peeling). Using a fork or potato masher, mash the potatoes with the milk and butter. Add 2 teaspoons of salt and pepper to taste.
