To add more flavor to fresh strawberries, especially if they're not very sweet on their own, slice them, sprinkle with sugar, and let them sit for a while to release their juices. Macerated strawberries are sweet and juicy, and a little vanilla and lemon zest will enhance the flavor. Enjoy them simply as a healthy dessert, or add them to porridge or pancakes.

The recipes use measuring containers with the following volumes:
1 glass (st.) - 250 ml.
3/4 cup (st.) - 180 ml.
2/3 cup (st.) - 160 ml.
1/2 cup (st.) - 125 ml.
1/3 cup (st.) - 80 ml.
1/4 cup (st.) - 60 ml.
1 tablespoon (tbsp) - 15 ml.
1 teaspoon (tsp) - 5 ml.
1/5 teaspoon (tsp) - 1 ml.

Ingredients for the recipe:

  • 4 cups strawberries, hulled and halved
  • 0.5 cups of sugar

Cooking the dish according to the recipe:

  1. Place the strawberries in a bowl, add the sugar, zest, and vanilla, and stir. Let them macerate for 30 minutes at room temperature. The sugar will soften the fruit and draw out the juices, creating a delicious syrup.
  2. Garnish with a sprig of fresh mint before serving!
